.NEAR TERM... (Rest of tonight through Friday) Issued at 1157 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
Pleasant weather today with sunny skies, light winds and warm temperatures.
The upper ridge will move over the Plains today with a surface high over the Southern Plains. Sinusoidal flow will persist across the northern CONUS and Canada with a shortwave bringing weak lee troughing along the Rockies. Southerly warm surface flow and mostly clear skies will give way to above-average temperatures in the 80s. However, some high clouds may move in from the west today with increasing mid-level moisture ahead of a cut-off low over southern Cali.

.SHORT TERM... (Friday night through Saturday night) Issued at 1157 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
BLUF: Warm, above-average temperatures with no precipitation chances through the weekend.
The weak shortwave in the sinusoidal flow to the north will move across the Plains Saturday morning and bring a weak front through Kansas that will remain north of Oklahoma. An upper ridge will move across the Plains Saturday in the wake of the shortwave. The surface high will continue to spin over northern Arkansas with warm southerly surface flow across Oklahoma and high temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Sunday, the upper ridge will strengthen and build eastward over the Midwest with the cut-off low becoming absorbed in the main flow to the north. The surface high will begin to build northeast with east-southeast surface flow and slightly cooler temperatures than Saturday in the mid to upper 80s.
&&
.LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Thursday) Issued at 1157 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025
Next week will feature continue warm, near to slightly above-normal temperatures and low chances for precipitation through the week. Early this week, a potential tropical system may make landfall on the East Coast and keep the upper ridge over the Midwest. Thus, the surface high will continue to bring east-southeasterly winds to Oklahoma and closer to near-normal temperatures in the 80s. However, by mid-week the remnant tropical upper low will continue to spin over the southeast CONUS while an upper ridge builds over northwest Mexico. Northwesterly flow will return aloft with weak lee troughing and a return of warm southerly surface flow. Thus, temperatures will gradually warm mid-week and into the end of the week with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
