.DISCUSSION... Issued at 330 AM CDT Wed Sep 24 2025
As of 330am, just a few light showers persist over northern Kansas. These remaining showers will continue to slowly push southward, exiting the area entirely between 7-9am this morning. Skies will continue to clear from north to south through the day today
This afternoon and early evening (roughly 3-8pm), CAMs still show potential for some isolated, diurnally- driven showers to develop...especially near and east of Highway 281. This will likely just be sprinkles, although it is not out of the question that a few isolated areas pick up a few hundredths of rain. Most areas are expected to remain completely dry. This activity will diminish with sunset, and clearing skies should allow temperatures to dip into the low 50s and even upper 40s by Thursday morning.
Beyond today, this is one of the quietest forecast periods we`ve had in some time. Ridging will dominate the central CONUS starting on Thursday. A weak shortwave will move through Friday into Saturday, but effectively all of the global ensembles keep the area dry through at least Sunday, with only low chances (10%) early next week as a weakening upper low moves out of the SW. Over the next 7-10 days, we will see the majority of the days with highs in the 80s (roughly 5-10 degrees above normal).
