Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Binghamton NY 705 PM EDT Tue Sep 9 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure overhead will allow radiational cooling to push temperatures below normal tonight. Areas of frost will be possible, especially in our normally colder locations. Temperatures will gradually warm up the remainder of the week with dry conditions and plenty of sunshine.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... A persistence type of forecast continues given little overall change in the pattern. Boundarey-level temperatures are slightly warmer tonight which could keep values high enough for any frost. No reason to think given a similar setup to the past few nights. Low pressure will track off the east coast Wednesday and Wednesday night. The overall track remains rather steady with model and ensemble data being close enough to increase clouds but keep showers east of our region. Another seasonably warm day into the 70`s Wednesday with overnight lows trending a little warmer each night.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/... High pressure remains in place through Friday night. Persistence thinking of clear skies, light winds and some patchy nighttime valley fog continues. Temperatures look fairly seasonable from the 50`s for lows to highs well into the 70`s.

&&

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... One more day of sunny high pressure Saturday that is followed by a potential weak cold front or low pressure system moving through the area early next week. Basically stayed with the NBM with low chances for showers given the uncertainity with these features. Not much change from previous days with the temperatures.

&&

.AVIATION /23Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... VFR conditions are expected this TAF period, though fog will be possible at ELM with restrictions falling to IFR/LIFR. Fog should clear up by around 14z. Winds will become light and variable tonight and remain that way through at least Wednesday afternoon. Skies will generally be clear with some high clouds moving in. A coastal system will bring midlevel clouds to AVP by midday Wednesday but rain should stay out of the region.

Outlook...

Wednesday Night through Sunday...Mainly VFR. Valley fog each late night/early morning at KELM will likely bring restrictions.

&&

.BGM WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... PA...None. NY...None.
