.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:
- Warm and Dry Through Thursday
- Cooler and Breezy to end the week
- High Uncertainty Early Next Week: Wide range of possibilities, from a return to warm and dry conditions to a cooler, wetter pattern.
A stretch of warm and dry early autumn weather will continue through the middle of the week, dominated by a ridge of high pressure. A passing weather system will bring some minor changes for the weekend, but significant impacts currently look unlikely.
For the short-term, expect another cool morning with frost again possible in the same spots as this morning, followed by pleasant and tranquil weather to continue through Thursday. Sunny skies will allow high temperatures to climb into upper 70s to low 80s across the valleys, which is 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.
A shift in the pattern begins late in the day on Thursday as a Pacific trough approaches the region. This will increase winds from the west by Friday afternoon. The trough will move through the region Thursday night into Friday, bringing in a cooler airmass. While temperatures will drop from their mid- week highs, they are still expected to remain above average for the weekend.
Moisture associated with this system appears quite limited. At this time, showers are not in the forecast.
Looking ahead to early next week, forecast uncertainty becomes very high. There is significant disagreement among weather models for the Monday-Tuesday timeframe. Some models keep our region in a dry and unseasonably warm pattern. In contrast, other models, particularly some AI-driven guidance, suggest a much cooler and wetter solution. For now, the official forecast leans toward the drier, warmer trend, but this could change significantly in the coming days.
