.DISCUSSION... Issued at 154 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025
Tonight through the weekend: For the most part, high pressure anchored over the eastern CONUS will be in control of our weather through the remainder of the work week, and no significant frontal passages are expected. The upper level trough that is helping to keep what is currently Tropical Storm Imelda off the southeast coast could bring some very light convective rainfall later this week (mainly Wed/Thu afternoons), but rain chances overall will remain low. Confidence is high that we will see drier and slightly cooler air advect into our region on the left side of "Imelda" by late in the week. Given the long duration stretch of below normal rainfall observed, we will be monitoring for any increased fire weather threats in this dry weather pattern. It is worth noting that we may begin to see an increase in rain chances over southeast portions of the forecast area by early next week as a frontal zone begins to strengthen near the gulf coast. There are still no signs of significant rainfall potential however. /EC/
