.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night...An upper level
trough continues to weaken as it moves eastward today. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms will generally be anchored over the
higher terrain through this evening, due to weak steering flow
aloft. Showers and thunderstorms will dissipate after sunset
with the loss of daytime heating. Good radiational cooling
expected tonight with patchy fog on Saturday morning. Saturday
will be mostly sunny in the afternoon between systems, with
temperatures near normal. A potent trough moves over the area
on Sunday afternoon, with showers likely north of Burns to
McCall with scattered thunderstorms areawide. Gusty outflow
winds up to 45kt possible Sunday afternoon and evening with the
storms and cold front. Heavy rain also a threat with the storms
as precipitable water values will be in the 80-85th percentile.
Some of the CAMs models are showing a quick 0.50 to 1.50 inch
of precipitation with the storms. Flash flooding threat around
burn scars will need to be monitored. Monday will cool to around
10 degrees below normal.
.LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...A ridge will build into the
area on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures
returning to near normal Tuesday and 5 degrees above normal on
Wednesday. After Wednesday forecast confidence is low as the
model solutions diverge significantly.

.AVIATION...Isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon,
tapering off after sunset. Areas of mountain obscuration. Patchy
fog overnight Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: NW 5-15kt. Surface
winds: NW 5-15kt this afternoon becoming light after sunset.
KBOI...VFR. Light surface winds becoming NW 5-15kt this
afternoon.
Weekend Outlook...Generally VFR. Patchy fog Saturday morning,
otherwise mostly clear. Increasing high clouds Sunday, with
showers and thunderstorms developing in eastern OR and southwest
ID late afternoon and evening. Gusty outflow winds up to 45kt
possible Sun afternoon and evening.
