.DISCUSSION... (This evening through next Friday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Skies remain mostly sunny across the north but increasing clouds can be seen moving west in central Nevada. With the increasing moisture, cells are beginning to develop in White Pine, southern Lander/Eureka, and northern Nye counties with a few lightning observed. Look for light showers to develop across the central during the later afternoon and evening hours. Overnight lows will be in the 40s and 50s.

Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy in the morning. All models are showing a closed low spinning over southern California but this feature will open up on Sunday and get caught up in the flow. It is forecast to move to the northeast with showers and thunderstorms (thirty to fifty percent) developing across central Nevada with isolated to scattered (ten to thirty percent) showers and isolated thunderstorms in the north. Total precipitation amounts will be less than a tenth of an inch, though any convective showers could produce more locally. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s in the central and 70s to 80s in the north. Winds will be light with some gusts to 20 mph in portions of northwest Humboldt county. Isolated showers will continue in the early evening with lows in the 40s.

On Monday through Tuesday night, upper level low pressure will move in from the eastern Pacific and pass through the forecast area. This will bring another round of showers (thirty to seventy percent) and isolated thunderstorms (ten to twenty percent) across much of the area. This is expected to be a wetter system with a two day total (Monday and Tuesday) of a third to an inch across much of northern Nevada with lower amounts (a tenth to a third of an inch). Highs on Monday will be in the 60s and 70s with cooler weather expected Tuesday with readings in the 60s due to rain showers and clouds. Winds will be breezy both days with gusts of 20 to 30 mph out of the southwest. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.

Models are showing an upper low pressure system pushing into the Pacific Northwest states Wednesday through Friday. Additional light showers are expected with best chances in the northern sections of the forecast area each afternoon. Highs will be in the 70s, with cooler readings in the 60s for Friday. Overnight lows will be in the 40s, but will reach the 30s Thursday and Friday mornings.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Look for moderate to high confidence for showers and thunderstorms Sunday through roughly Tuesday. No changes have been made to the NBM for this package.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions expected through the next 24 hours. Winds will be breezy tomorrow afternoon in the central and east- central TAF sites of KTPH and KELY with lighter winds over the northern sites. Isolated -SHRA/-TSRA expected across central Nevada through early tomorrow morning, but coverage will increase north and west.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...No fire weather concerns are noted at this time. Isolated to scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms will continue this afternoon and early evening. More active and wet weather expected late Sunday and Monday through late Tuesday. This will allow for additional shower and thunderstorm development during this time with highs in the 70s and 80s Sunday, cooling into the 60s by Tuesday. Winds will be breezy Monday afternoon with gusts to 25 to 30 mph but minimum relative humidity values will remain at or above thirty five percent.
