.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 211 AM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025

Analysis and current conditions: Upper level analysis and water vapor imagery show a trough shifting into the southeast U.S., upper ridging over the southern into central plains and a nearly stationary low over southern CA. The main polar jet was located across southern Canada with a shortwave pushing east across the province of Manitoba. At the surface, high pressure was centered over the region behind the cold front which has shifted well south into the Gulf. Temperatures over the CWA were in the upper 50s to low 60s with dewpoints in the mid to upper 50s.

Short term forecast through Saturday night: Similar to last night, there may be some fog that develops in the river valleys and lakes, but most places should remain clear, with some possible high cirrus streaming in from the west. Could see some cumulus develop during the afternoon, but otherwise should be sunny again with highs in the low to mid 80s. Lows tonight will be a bit warmer than Friday night in the mid 50s to low 60s.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... Issued at 211 AM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025

The upper level ridge axis will build over the area on Sunday with surface high pressure remaining over the area. The California upper low will begin to lift northeast into the Rockies as a storm system begins to push into the west coast Sunday night into Monday. The energy associated with the California low will stay to our west over the rockies and plains and we should remain dry through the 7 day period as upper level ridging remains over the area.

Temperatures will be warm in the low to mid 80s (normals for this time of year are in the mid 70s).

8 to 14 day outlook continues the favoring of above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation for the area which goes through October 10th. Ensemble temperature anomolies continue to show around 4 to 6 degrees above normal during this time frame.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/... Issued at 1215 AM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025

High pressure remains in control over the area bringing VFR conditions and light winds to the area for the 06z TAF period. May see some high level cirrus move in from the west and some afternoon cumulus develop, but should remain VFR.
