- Fog this morning with chance of rain this afternoon

Clearing skies and light winds at the surface has provided for a better environment for fog development this morning. The dew point depression remains around zero with a very moist surface However, while periods of dense fog will occur, there is enough wind where fog will shift and visibility will improve periodically at times. The inversion is extremely shallow, which helps to explain the changing visibility, however, periods of dense fog will continue through sunrise before lifting and dissipating by mid morning due to clear skies. Temps should increase by 9 to 10 AM to allow any lingering clouds to clear.

A weak frontal boundary will sweep through northern lower and clip the US 10 corridor. There is enough lift and moisture to allow for a chance of rain through central Michigan.

- Warmer and Drier weather ahead

A ridge will continue to move over head through the weekend and into next week this which will bring warmer and drier weather. Temps could reach into the 80s Sunday and into next week. Expect the warm weather to continue until around mid week. An upper level trough moving through Eastern Canada could move southward through the NE US and into the Mid Atlantic, that could push the ridge westward, and cause some cold air advection that would drop Max temperatures closer to normal.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SATURDAY/... Issued at 109 PM EDT Fri Sep 26 2025

VFR conditions are expected through this evening with scattered daytime Cu around 4kft across West Michigan. Tonight, conditions will be favorable for patchy fog development as skies remain clear and winds subside. Have added MVFR restrictions at MKG/AZO/LAN where better low-level RH will be and slightly weaker winds aloft will be present. Best potential for fog development looks to be across Central Lower Michigan to the north of the terminals. Further south, have gone with no restrictions at this time, and will monitor dewpoint trends through the afternoon to see if any may be needed in subsequent updates. Look for west winds around 5 knots today becoming light and variable overnight; before increasing from the southwest on Saturday to around 5-10 knots.
