.DISCUSSION... Issued at 254 PM CDT Mon Oct 6 2025

Skies remain mostly cloudy and a few light showers persist in eastern parts of the area as of 230pm. CAMs continue to suggest that few showers could redevelop in southeastern parts of the area (roughly SE of a line from Phillipsburg to York) late this afternoon into the evening. Rain amounts will be light (0.10" or less). Any thunderstorms and heavier rain should remain in eastern and central KS where there is still some available instability.

Low clouds clear out from northwest to southeast this evening into tonight as high pressure pushes into the area. With the clearing and light winds, temperatures should quickly dip into the 40s across most of the area...and northwestern parts of the area are expected to dip into the 30s. Patchy frost is possible, but additional high clouds are expected to move in from the west...preventing a widespread frost threat. Regardless, there is a chance that sensitive plants could be damaged, particularly in areas north of Highway 92 tonight into Tuesday morning.

Winds remain light as surface high pressure moves through the area on Tuesday. High temperatures in the mid 60s are a few degrees below normal for early October...but still a pretty mild fall day. South winds increase on Wednesday, but increasing cloud cover will result in another day with highs in the 60s.

Strengthening upper-level ridging over the central CONUS will result in a warming trend for Thursday into the weekend. There is a very low (10-15%) chance for rain with an embedded perturbation early Thursday morning. Otherwise dry conditions are expected until the next shortwave arrives from the west late Saturday into Sunday.
