.DISCUSSION... Issued at 138 PM CDT Sun Sep 28 2025
Confidence in the forecast period continues to increase, specifically regarding later this week. Currently, deep layer ridging remains in control of the regional weather. A surface high is placed across the Great Lakes, providing a light northeasterly flow. Skies are clear, with temperatures currently running into the low to mid 80s.
The synoptic pattern remains generally the same through the duration of this week. An upper level ridge will remain parked over the Quad State, with a surface high expanding north of the Great Lakes. Persistent northeasterly flow is expected to remain in place, providing dry conditions. Confidence continues to increase that the region will be void of any impacts from tropical activity currently across the Carolina coast. Both TD 9, and hurricane Humberto are expected to recurve out to sea as the surface high sinks into New England. Temperatures will remain above normal, with highs largely in the 80s into much of next week. The warmest day of the 7 day period will be Monday as highs approach the upper 80s.
