.DISCUSSION... Issued at 208 PM CDT Sat Sep 27 2025
A broad and highly amplified ridge of high pressure looks to be the main feature in control of central IL`s weather through at least the next week, meaning little to no hope for rainfall. Even cloud cover of any sort looks like it will be hard to come by. Temperatures will continue to rise the next few days, with highs reaching the upper 80s to around 90 Sunday through Tuesday, while lows generally at least dip into the 50s. Normal highs are in the mid 70s, while normal lows are around 50 this time of year. Lows will be closer to normal given the dry conditions, clear skies, and light winds for most of the period, allowing good radiational cooling at night.
An Atlantic tropical disturbance likely to become a tropical storm within the next day now appears unlikely to have any impact in this region, compared with a day ago when it appeared it could have some impact on wind direction and cloud cover. Nevertheless, a slight cooling looks on track for late next week as a cooler northeast flow develops as a result of a strong Canadian high positioning itself north of the Great Lakes.
