Upper level analysis shows a broad upper trough stretching across the Rockies into western TX. Water vapor highlights area of moisture influx with southwesterly flow aloft with a more pronounced upper trough along the Pacific coast. A surface trough axis extends from western SD through eastern CO into the southern High Plains. Increased cloud cover and isolated showers and thunderstorms will persist this afternoon, particularly across the higher elevation of the Black Hills, as an embedded shortwave pushes through the Northern Plains.
