.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Friday Night) Issued at 1125 PM CDT Wed Sep 17 2025
Through the week we have been sitting between a big ridge axis over the Plains and Ms Valley and an upper trough along the east coast. The ridge has given us warm temperatures while the trough has provided a couple of weak disturbances with brief, localized showers and storms. Low level northerly flow between these systems has kept humidity levels tolerable, allowing temps to cool off near normal levels at night.
The ridge will be our main wx system the next few days as it gradually moves eastward and sets up overhead. Dry conditions are expected Thursday and Friday with the warmest days of this warm spell, including mid 90s some areas.
Overnight hours will continue to cool off nicely. Some patchy fog will form, mainly Plateau and across our southern areas where humidity levels are slightly higher.

.LONG TERM... (Saturday through next Thursday) Issued at 1125 PM CDT Wed Sep 17 2025
For this weekend, the NBM is painting a continued warm and dry forecast under the ridge. But, some models are showing a little weakening of the ridge with very small chances for isolated showers Saturday PM and Sunday. Something to keep in mind as a possibility, but nothing to be excited about.
Greater height falls will come Monday through Thursday as the upper level pattern begins to change. This more "troughy" pattern will ease high temps down into the 80s (still above normal). It will also bring greater chances for scattered showers and a few storms, but no widespread soaking rainfall.
